How to Track Visitors on Your Booking Page Using Google Analytics.

Prostay allows you to track unique visitors and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts. This guide shows Prostay users how to connect Google Analytics to monitor performance, adjust strategy, and grow bookings with real data, not guesswork.

To access this setting, Go To: Booking Engine > Customize.

Here's how to set up Google Analytics to track visitors.

  1. Navigate to the Google Analytics tab.
  2. Enter your unique Google Analytics ID.
  3. Enter a Primary Domain.
  4. Input a Google Adwords Conversion ID.
  5. Input a Google Adwords Conversion Label.
  6. Click “Save.”

Google Analytics Universal ID (Tracking ID)The universal ID is the tracking ID for websites using Universal Analytics, an older version of GA. It tracks data such as users, sessions, and traffic sources.

Note: Universal Analytics has been deprecated as of July 1, 2023. New properties now use GA4 by default.

  • If you still have an old UA property, Go to analytics.google.com
  • Click the gear icon (find admin)
  • Under “Property settings, You'll find your tracking ID. "UA-XXXXXXXXX-X”

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Measurement IDThis is the Google's new format for tracking website/app data.
  • Visit analytics.google.com
  • Choose your GA4 property
  • Click the gear icon (Admin).
  • Go to Data streams > Select your web stream.
  • Your Measurement ID should look like: G-XXXXXXX"

Google Adwords Conversion IDIt is a unique ID associated with your Google Ads account, specifically used to track conversions like purchases or form submissions after a click on your ad.
  • Go to Ads.google.com
  • Click Tools & Settings > Measurement > Conversions.
  • Click on an existing conversion action or create a new one
  • Under Tag Setup, choose "Install the tag yourself"
  • You'll see a code, your ID in the code will be AW:XXXXXXXXX
Google Adwords Conversion LabelIt identifies the specific converstion action (e.g., form submission, purchase) within your Ads account, so Google knows which action to track.
  • Go to ads.google.com
  • At the top right of the dasboard, click tools & settings > measurement > conversions.
  • Select and create a conversion action
  • Find the “Tag setup”, and choose to install the tag yourself.
  • locate conversion label from the code.
  • It should look something like AW-987654321/abcDEFghijkLMnoPQrsT
  • “abcDEFghijkLMnoPQrsT” is the Conversion Label in this instance.
